Rolling Solo Women

Rolling Solo is an organisation for women travelling around Australia.  This song grew out of a series of discussions on what a group theme song might include, and I volunteered to turn the concepts into song form.  The idea was to make it feel like a bush ballad, so it could be sung while sitting around the campfire.
Note: Coddiwompling is travelling purposefully toward an unknown destination.

.

A Roller is a trav’lling gal who wants to see this land,
Explore its farthest corners and just grab it in her hand.
Her vehicle’s almost anything from car to bus or van;
She doesn’t care, goes anywhere, and knows she always can.
We’re gypsy coddiwomplers with others by our side,
We’re Rolling Solo women and we shout it out with pride.

When starting out we have our doubts, we’re unsure what to do,
But find the courage deep inside to take a step or two;
Then tagalongs and pitstop meets give us new friendships true;
We learn, we share, we teach and care, and helping sees us through.
We’re gypsy coddiwomplers with others by our side,
We’re Rolling Solo women and we shout it out with pride.

We’ve members right across the land, from Yass to Marble Bar;
We’re glampers, clowns and fossickers, no weirdness is too far.
We’re on the road, we know not where, but following our star
We’re doing what we love to do and know just who we are.
We’re gypsy coddiwomplers with others by our side,
We’re Rolling Solo women and we shout it out with pride.
